Job Title: Truck Driver

Location: Garki, Abuja
Employment Type: Full-time

 Responsibilities

  • Driving: Operate trucks ranging from light to heavy, adhering to traffic laws and safety standards. This involves driving long distances, sometimes across state lines or internationally.
  • Loading and Unloading: Load cargo onto the truck, ensuring it is properly secured and balanced for safe transport. Unload cargo at the destination, sometimes using equipment like forklifts or pallet jacks.
  • Route Planning: Plan the most efficient route to the destination, considering factors like traffic, road conditions, and delivery schedules. Use navigation tools and maps to navigate unfamiliar routes.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance checks on the truck, including checking oil levels, tire pressure, and brakes. Report any mechanical issues and perform minor repairs if necessary.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and hours worked. Complete paperwork such as delivery receipts, logbooks, and inspection reports as required by regulations.
  • Communication: Communicate with dispatchers, customers, and other drivers using two-way radios, cell phones, or other communication devices. Provide updates on delivery status and report any issues or delays.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies, including hours of service regulations, weight limits, and safety standards. Obtain necessary permits and licenses for transporting hazardous materials if required.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by delivering goods on time and in good condition. Assist with loading and unloading cargo when necessary and address any customer concerns or inquiries.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Valid commercial driver’s licensewith appropriate endorsements (Class G)
  • Clean driving record with no history of major accidents or violations.
  • Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects and perform manual labor.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Knowledge of truck maintenance and basic repair skills.
  • Familiarity with navigation tools and electronic logging devices.
  • Compliance with safety regulations and protocols.
  • Flexibility to work long hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Salary
N30,000 N40,000 Monthly.
