As the Academics Virtual Assistant at Tokyo Academics, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our academic resources and curriculum aligns with educational standards, is effective in promoting student learning, and meets the needs of both students and educators.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing organization of 150+ team members around the world. This is a remote role, you can work from home but must be available for meetings during our regular business hours (10am – 7pm Japan Standard Time).

What you will work on:

  • Manage and organize academic resources, textbooks, and instructional materials
  • Research and recommend the acquisition of new educational materials, and online resources that align with the curriculum goals
  • Conduct thorough research on current educational trends, technologies, resources, and best practices
  • Evaluate existing academic resources to identify areas for improvement and recommend updates or replacements as needed
  • Offer support and training to Academic Instructors to troubleshoot issues, optimize the use of academic resources and technologies, and ensure the effective use of academic materials.
  • Regularly review and assess curriculum materials to ensure they meet the evolving needs of students and educators.
  • Understand, research, and align resources to international standards, including but not limited to AP, IB, A-Levels, MYP, PYP, GCSE, Key Stage, Common Core, etc.
  • Build, delegate, and maintain systems for TA’s curriculum collection
  • Analyze the market and competitors to improve our curriculum resources
  • Serve as a point of contact for Academic Instructors and Academic Managers for issues related to curriculum

Our ideal candidate:

  • Has a Bachelor’s degree in any relevant field
  • Has fluent English communication skills (reading / writing / speaking)
  • Prior experience at an educational institution would be an advantage
  • Has excellent time management, organizational, and multitasking, and decision-making skills
  • Is highly detail-oriented, resourceful and self-independent individual who can work with minimal supervision
  • Must be comfortable working remotely and supporting staff from different time zones
  • Is highly proficient in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Skype, Slack, and other project management tools like Trello, Asana, etc.
  • Has previous experience working as a virtual assistant or in a role requiring effective coordination and communication
  • Has strong research skills to stay updated on the latest educational trends, teaching methodologies, and technological advancements
  • Has the ability to critically evaluate academic resources for relevance and effectiveness

Desirable skills:

  • Proven experience in educational research, curriculum development and implementation, as well as assessment, resource management, or a related field is a plus
  • Has strong data analysis skills to evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum and recommend data-driven decisions
  • Demonstrated experience with records or data management systems such as learning management systems, record systems, physical or virtual libraries, or similar platforms

Work hours:
